Baptism
Baptisms may be arranged by contacting the Parish Centre.
First Reconciliation (Children in Year 2 and above)
Tuesday, 12th September 2023
Children will be formally enrolled during Masses on Saturday 19th August and Sunday 20th August.
Children in Year 2 at St Philomena's will learn about Reconciliation in their regular Religious Education lessons. Children who attend other schools will have their lessons in the church following 9.30am Mass on Sundays 28th August and 3rd September.
The rehearsal session will be on Sunday 10th September immediately following the 9.30am Mass.
The two sessions for parents will be Thursdays 24th August and 7th September, 6pm at the Parish Centre.
Information letter/enrolment form will be available in August.

First Holy Communion (Children in Year 3 and above)
Sunday 19th November 2023
Children will be formally enrolled during Masses on Saturday 21st October and Sunday 22nd October.
Children in Year 3 at St Philomena's will learn about First Holy Communion in their regular Religious Education lessons. Children who attend other schools will have their lessons in the church following 9.30am Mass on Sundays 29th October & 5th November.
The rehearsal session will be on Sunday 12th November immediately following the 9.30am Mass.
The two sessions for parents will be Thursdays 26th October and 9th November, 6pm at the Parish Centre.
Information letter/enrolment form will be available in October.

Confirmation (Children in Year 6 and above)
Sunday 30th July 2023
Children will be formally enrolled during Masses on Saturday 3rd June and Sunday 4th June.
Children in Year 6 at St Philomena's will learn about Confirmation in their regular Religious Education lessons. Children who attend other schools will have their lessons in the church following 9.30am Mass on Sundays 18th & 25th June.
The rehearsal session will be on Sunday 23rd July immediately following the 9.30am Mass.
The two sessions for parents will be Thursdays 8th June and 20th July, 6pm at the Parish Centre.

Marriage
Please contact the Parish Office to book the church for your wedding ceremony, and to arrange a meeting with the priest.
This should preferably be at least six months before the wedding.
Becoming a Catholic
If you are considering becoming a Catholic, please contact the Parish Centre to arrange a meeting with one of our priests.
Anointing of the Sick
If a family member, friend or neighbour is sick in hospital, Whiddon or at home and would appreciate the Sacrament of Anointing, please call the parish office.
Home or Hospital Visits
If you, or someone you know, would like a visit from one of our priests, please call the Parish Office.
Our priests conduct monthly home visits to those who are unable to attend Mass.
Due to Privacy regulations, our local hospital does not provide us with names of patients, so we rely on family members to let us know if there is someone who needs a visit.
Funerals
Your funeral director will contact us to arrange a time for a funeral in our church, or a graveside service. When this is done, you will need to contact the Parish Office to arrange a time to speak with the priest about the hymns and readings you wish to include in the funeral.
